Network/Server Facility
Our network and servers are hosted in a colocation room in downtown
Bloomington. Our provider has redundant connectivity through SBC in Bloomington
and Time Warner in Indianapolis. This gives us redundant connections to two
different parts of the Internet backbone. They have instant failover in the
event of a router failure.
The server room is air cooled to 62 degrees and all the racks are hooked up
to a diesel power generator and UPS units for continuous power backup, even
during extended city wide power outages.
We monitor the environment of the server room and are alerted automatically
if the temperature rises above or below a specified threshold and do daily
physical location checks of the facility. There is very limited keyed access
to the room, the racks and the building itself.
We monitor the bandwidth utilization on our network and have a policy of
having no more than 50% average usage during any month. If we pass that 50%,
we increase our overall bandwidth. This gives all our customers the breathing
room for burstable network traffic as well as sustained transfers.
